Every other endpoint (cards, search, compare, best cards, issuers, categories, reward valuations, product changes, application rules) answers every plan, with the card fields above. Fields above your plan are left out of the response.

What your plan licenses

  • Display the data in your own website, app or content, and cache it, on any active plan.
  • Don't re-serve or resell the raw data: no API, feed, spreadsheet or bulk export of your own.
  • The full rules, including trials and what happens when a plan ends, are in the Terms of Service.

Questions

What counts as a call?

Every request made with one of your API keys counts as one call, whatever it returns. Requests refused with a 429 don't count, and GET /v1/stats and POST /v1/auth/register need no key and don't count. Quotas are per account: all your keys share one daily and one monthly limit.

What happens when I reach my limit?

The API answers 429 until the limit resets: the daily limit at midnight UTC, the monthly one on the 1st of the month. The Retry-After header gives the seconds to wait, and the error says which limit was hit and links to a bigger plan. Nothing is ever billed for overage. Free is 100 calls a day and 3,000 a month; Starter is 500 and 15,000.

Are Canadian cards included?

Yes. Every plan, Free included, covers US and Canadian cards from the same endpoints. Filter with ?country=US or ?country=CA.

How fresh is the data?

Every card is re-checked against the issuer's own website every Friday night, and changes are published automatically once they pass our checks. GET /v1/stats returns last_updated, the time card data last changed, and every card carries its own last_verified date on Starter and above.

Is there a free trial?

Starter comes with a 7-day free trial, once per customer, card required; cancel any time in the developer portal or by emailing support@cardapi.dev. Data fetched during a trial is for evaluating CardAPI only until the trial becomes a paid plan. The Free plan needs no card and has no time limit.

Can I cache the data?

Yes. On any active plan you may store or cache API responses to display the data in your own website, app or content. You may not re-serve the raw data to others (an API, feed, spreadsheet or bulk export of your own) or resell it. If a plan ends, you have 30 days to delete what you stored from it.
